Sourcing and Ethics
Both my husband and I have been paramedics for a combined 30+ years and we continue to stand behind the rule of “Do No Harm”. This being said, I cannot stand the term “Ethically Sourced”. The term "sustainably sourced” or “responsibly sourced" is preferred by me over "ethically sourced" because ethics can be subjective and requires careful consideration of different viewpoints. Ethics vary from person to person and depend on a person’s morals and values. All specimens used in our pieces have died a natural death or were personally collected and processed from roadkill or the byproduct of farming. Because of this specimens will not always be in perfect condition.
We do partner with some pet stores, wildlife rehabilitation specialists, farmers, butterfly farms and members of many entomology societies, as well as other creators to ensure every specimen sold was not harmed for the sake of art or profit. Always purchase any taxidermy or biological art with care and caution to ensure we do our best to protect the lives and ecosystems that surround us and ensure transparency.
